CalFresh Implementation Of Assembly Bill 79: Increasing Dual Enrollment

  • May 5, 2021
  • 1 min read

County Welfare Departments have recently been provided guidance for the implementation of Assembly Bill (AB) 79 (Chapter 11, Section 90, Statutes Of 2020), which requires CWDs to implement provisions aimed at increasing dual enrollment between CalFresh and Medi-Cal.

CWDs will be required to provide training to staff who process Medi-Cal applications and renewals to perform CalFresh eligibility screenings and eligibility determinations, and to designate county liaisons to expand CalFresh outreach and retention among Medi-Cal applicants and beneficiaries.

This new bill will have some overlap with our work, therefore I encourage you to reach out to county partners to inquire about their plans for implementation.
